Key module objectives

Understand the essential role of logistics in the transportation of bioproducts, from manufacturing to patient distribution, by adhering to pharmaceutical regulations and adopting best practices to ensure product quality and safety.

Target audience

In production sites, research centers, distribution centers, third-party distributors, freight forwarders, and professions related to transportation and storage of pharmaceutical products and bioproducts: logisticians (storage, transportation, customs operations), export managers, customer service (claims' management), supply chain quality coordinators.

Satellite functions: key account managers, sales representatives, financial managers, human resources managers.

Module Overview

Activity 1: Logistics of bioproducts: transportation and flows
• Understand the logistical lifecycle of bioproducts.
• Identify the types of transport and their specificities.
• Analyze the challenges in bioproduct logistics.

Activity 2: Pharmaceutical regulations of bioproducts, transportation rules and best practices
• Grasp the current Good Distribution Practices (cGDPs).
• Learn the international transport regulations for bioproducts.
• Identify the safety and quality requirements during transport.

Activity 3: Roles and responsibilities of stakeholders
• Define the responsibilities of manufacturers and transporters.
• Understand the role of customs in bioproduct logistics.
• Analyze the risks related to transport and the supply chain.

Activity 4: Use case: preparation and shipment of bioproducts
• Organize the transport of bioproducts by analyzing risks.
• Choose the best transporter based on specific criteria.
• Secure the transport of bioproducts by adopting appropriate measures.

Evaluation procedures

• A short evaluation at the end of the module confirming what you have learnt and enabling you to move to the next one (no limit of attempts, 80% of correct answers required).
• Trainees enrolled in the whole curriculum have the possibility to assess and set their new knowledges and skills via an anchoring quiz between modules.

Recommended equipment for an optimal experience : PC computer, with the last version of web browsers Chrome/Firefox/Microsoft Edge, and an internet connection of 8 Mb/s or more.
